Growing up, I never realized how detrimental overconsumption and fast fashion were to our environment. After conducting my own research and interning at various fashion & apparel companies, I realized how prevalent this issue was in our society. I aspire to promote the premise of slow, sustainable fashion in order to combat the effects that fast fashion has on our environment.

I love buying things second-hand because it is both sustainable and unique. Growing up, my mom always would go antique or thrift shopping and loved to repurpose things. Sustainable fashion such as Save The Duck is important to me because as fast fashion and micro trends grow in popularity, we are further damaging our environment and supporting businesses where workers are treated unfairly.

I would describe my personal style as simple, classy, and clean. I love having pieces that I can dress up and down, and that will last a long time. I think feeling comfortable in the clothes we wear is most important, so knowing that the pieces are coming from a sustainable, cruelty-free company makes wearing them even better!

I started to really become interested in sustainability when I went off to college. Majoring in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Sustainability has taught me so much about the fashion industry and its negative effects on our environment. Becoming more aware of the topic of sustainability has greatly influenced my shopping behaviors and made me more conscious about my consumption. I’m far from perfect, but I continue to strive for more sustainable practices every day.

My personal style consists of a mix between sleek chic, athletic, and bold elegant wear. Ultimately though, I like to wear whatever clothes feel true to my authentic self and make me feel fierce, powerful, and uniquely feminine. Sustainable fashion has also become an important part of my evolution as a consumer because I am passionate about shaping the future of clothing production and our environment!

Sense of style: Fashion has always been my creative outlet and one of the biggest joys in my life but can also be one of the most destructive industries to the environment, which is something else I’ve always been very passionate about. Working with a company like Save The Duck is so important to me becauseI think they’re a perfect example of how we can still enjoy fashion without harming the planet or others in the process.

Sense of style: Sustainability is the most important, especially in an industry of mass consumption. Awareness of how the clothes we put on impact our Earth is the first step to becoming conscious
consumers.

Despite the world becoming more and more environmentally conscious, fast fashion still dominates the almost $500 billion industry. But it only takes a few to lead the charge in setting a trend of sustainable fashion, merging fashion-forward with eco-friendly products, and showing the rest of the world that both can work hand-in-hand. This kind of sustainable fashion can make a long-term impact on the environment, animals, and future generations.
